Here we are seen walking across the border into Canada...peace out, 'murica! . If only it were that easy or effective to run away from our fears. Yes, we're shocked, angry, and afraid for the future. But we didn't get to this place of equality and acceptance in our society by running away from what scares us. We have to have hope, and we have to do our part to make things better. We have to listen to the angry and fearful populace that decided this election. More importantly, those of us in the queer and minority communities need to keep living our truths and find ways to be heard. We must get our voices heard beyond our own affirming echo chambers. Walking down the street today I came across two flags side by side. One with stars and stripes representing the greatness of our country, and the other with bold colors of the rainbow, representing a community proud of who they are. No matter who wins tonight, it's imperative to remember that our country is one where EVERYONE deserves to be accepted and treated with respect, kindness and love. This is not the message that I wanted to share tonight. But it's a very important message. . The results tonight show that we need to be more visible and proactive than ever in fighting for equality and compassion. . If you're feeling terrified/scared/alone/sad/upset right now - I'm there with you. The fact that a message of fear and discrimination has resonated with so many Americans is nothing short of alarming and stunning. . I want you to know this. I love you. I support you. There is a lot of good in our country and we're going to stick together, build bridges, attack bigotry in all forms, and fight for what's right. I'm here for you, and let's be here for each other. This is scary and hard, but fighting for our future is worth it. . Advocacy and outreach has never been more important. Let's stand louder, taller, and stronger than ever before to spread love, not hate, and advocate for what's right. And please, be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. The world needs it. We need it. . Woke up later than usual. Swear I just woke up from a nightmare. But it was real. It was real? Right? Gotta wait four years for my government to reflect the ALL the people it represents. It was two steps forward one step back. It's ok, cuz real change doesn't set quickly it takes time. I'mma keep my head up, and hope that over the next four years 😓trump will perform with class, dignity, and virtue.
